ARISE® Intervention for Drugs and Alcohol

One in every 10 Americans over the age of 12 struggle with addiction. Among those, alcoholism is the most common form of addiction in the United States, killing more teenagers than all other drugs combined.

Addiction to alcohol is not defined by the amount or type of alcohol the Person of Concern drinks. Someone abusing alcohol will make drinking the central activity in their life and they experience craving beyond their mental control. Their decision-making is compromised by their addiction, often leading to unpredictable and irrational behavior. Once this person starts to drink, they cannot stop no matter how great the necessity or wish.

Drug addiction is a chronic, progressive brain disease that causes compulsive drug-seeking behavior. Despite negative and harmful consequences, this disease often comes with a high rate of relapse.

You may have noticed your loved one exhibiting concerning, unusual behavior. Common signs of addiction are:

·        Mood swings

·        Withdrawing from family and friends

·        Neglecting responsibilities

·        Increased anxiety or paranoia

·        Trembling hands

·        Loss of relationships

·        Flushed skin

·        Heightened secrecy

·        Unexplained changes in personality

·        Increased tolerance to substances

·        Deterioration of hygiene or appearance

·        Slurred speech

·        Changes in appetite or sleeping patterns

·        Lack of motivation

Finding the appropriate help for a loved one suffering from substance abuse disorder, mental health issues, duel diagnosis and behavioral compulsions can be challenging. The sheer amount of service providers, disciplines and finances required can be overwhelming.

ARISE® Interventions introduces the addicted person and the family to a new life of recovery and healing. When ARISE® interventions are initiated, families and their person of concern are all given the same information simultaneously. There are no secrets, there are no sidebars. There is no blame, shame or guilt. There is no confrontation. This is designed towards getting the addicted loved one into treatment with the least possible effort through a loving, compassionate and non-blaming approach.

If the Person of Concern agrees to treatment, the Interventionist will coordinate with the treatment facility to determine the appropriate next steps. ARISE Interventionists remain involved in collaboration with the family and Person of Concern throughout intervention, treatment & early recovery.

Recovery comes with time, treatment, family, and social support. Although the determination to recover is necessary, there must be social and professional support. ARISE® gets over 83% of individuals into treatment within three weeks, 96% into treatment within six months and 61% in recovery by the end of the year.
